Range finder cameras

Today CM introduced us to the, it appears to me, arcane world of the range finder.

After a comprehensive briefing we were able to take some shots. My observations are in no particular order:

  1. Expensive
  2. Fiddly and awkward
  3. Slow to prepare
  4. No intrinsic light metre
  5. Focus from 2 meters
  6. Film (other digital options are available)
  7. Very fast lens
  8. Parallax
  9. Sharp focus (potentially see point 2)

Obviously these types of camera have produced extraordinary shots and are still doing so today in experienced hands.

LP-Personally I am struggling to find them a place in my workflow. To do so I am going to have to put in some serious time.
