Open new document and open the x,y,z and 3D view by left clicking on the square within square icon

The subdivison surface icon. Allow the cursor to dwell and left click and hold presents the menu( Indicated by the arrow bottom right corner.

Create a lathe effect which shows in the upper panel right. It is is green ticked to show it is alive

Using the B-Spline draw a rough shape. It can be edited subsequently.The curve should start and finish on the vertical line (green). Normally failure to do this ends in a cow pat.

Drag spline onto Lathe

The spline is then automatically lathed

Increase subdivisions up to get a smooth shape. All depends on how closely it needs to be observed from.

For a transparent glasslike texture check colour, transparency and specular. Alter refraction to 1.57 for glass.
